First, our transcriptomic analysis and qRT-PCR results in 2D, 3D and in vivo models, revealed several JQ1-associated stemness-related genes in TNBC, including CD44, CD24 and ALDH1A1. The CD44/CD24 ratio, as well as ALDH1A1 over-expression, are known indicators of tumour aggressiveness, correlating with high proliferation indexes, increased tumour initiation capabilities and augmented invasion and metastasis potentials [21].
