While no differences in the hepatic expression of Acyl-CoA desaturase 1 (Scd1), the fatty acid binding proteins 1 and 3 (Fabp1/3) or Acyl-CoA 6-desaturase (Fads2) were determined, we did observe significant decreases in the ratio of linoleic (C18:2) to arachidonic (C20:4) acid between NPD and LPD males, an indicator of increased activity of the desaturases Fads1/2 and/or elongase Elovl5. Here, ELOVL5 is linked to disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis.
