Some genes involved in progressive ataxia may also be responsible for episodic neurological manifestations: recently, permanent or even progressive neurological signs including ataxia, combined with various types of other episodic syndromes have been reported in patients with the so‐called « episodic ataxia» (linked to CACNA1A, PRRT2, SLC2A1).11, 13, 17. The gene discussed is CACNA1A; the disease is cerebellar ataxia.
