MXI1 and prostate cancer: It will be interesting to investigate whether the differentlysized deletions in this region might affect the behavior of prostate cancer cells,as MXI1 is usually lacking or inactive in prostate cancer (Eagle et al., 1995, Prochownik et al., 1998); itsfunction is to suppress proliferation by antagonizing Myc (Taj et al., 2001), which inturn is commonly amplified in prostate cancer (Ishkanian et al., 2009).
