The diversity of ALDH isoenzymes allows detoxification of several oxidative remnants, aldehydes and protein‐aldehyde adducts that progressively accumulate during aging, which all together would be especially responsible for sarcopenia,9, 10 as suggested in a variety of other models and tissues.7, 24, 27, 28, 40, 62 The diversity of isoenzymes allows metabolizing several substrates, and several isoenzymes may be expressed by a single cell population, as observed in our flow cytometry, cytofluorescence, and gene expression assays. Here, LDHA is linked to sarcopenia.
