As caribou is a major source of nutrients important in the prevention of anemia, the specific objectives of this research are to: (i) examine the relationship between caribou consumption, hemoglobin (Hb), and blood biomarkers of nutrient status and contaminant exposure; and (ii) examine the theoretical public health impact of restricted caribou consumption, by modelling the response of Hb to caribou intake using multivariable regression. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and anemia.
