IL2 and chorioamnionitis: The ability of CD4 T cells to produce tumour necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) (Fig. 6a, b) upon in vitro stimulation was indistinguishable between the three clinical groups, yet, in contrast, the ability to produce CXCL8 was severely and significantly reduced in both the chorioamnionitis and unstable groups when compared to stable infants (Fig. 6c).
