Interestingly, several studies have shown that activation of AMPK mitigates tauopathy by different mechanisms including (1) decreasing the activity of GSK3β, (2) increasing the activity of phosphatases, particularly PP2A, and (3) enhancing proteasomal degradation by activating SIRT1 deacetylation [110, 113, 131, 132]. This evidence concerns the gene PRKAA1 and tauopathy.
