A recent study showed that cleavage of gasdermin E (GSDME) by caspase-3 induced pyroptosis in neuroblastoma and melanoma cells, which is followed by treatment with chemotherapeutic agents, such as DNA-binding/modifying compounds (doxorubicin, cisplatin, and actinomycin-D) and topoisomerase inhibitors (topotecan, CPT-11, etoposide, and mitoxantrone) [16]. The gene discussed is GSDME; the disease is neuroblastoma.
