The supplementation of VSL#3 and balsalazide reduced the expression of p-STAT3 (phospho-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3) and BCL-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2) and decreased the level of MIP-1β (macrophage inflammatory protein 1 beta), MCP-1 (monocyte chemoattractant protein-1), IL-6 (interleukin-6), IL-10, and number of F4/80-positive macrophages and increased the BAX (BCL2-associated X protein) expression in CRC mice. Here, BCL2 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
