The mRNA levels of lipogenic genes, elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 6 (ELOVL6) and stearoyl-Coenzyme A desaturase-1 (SCD1), which are also ChREBP targets, were significantly increased in colon cancer tissues when compared to normal colon tissue and these increase were positively associated with colon cancer progression (for both genes, p < 0.001), but this trend did not applied to fatty acid synthase (FAS) (Fig. 1D–F). This evidence concerns the gene MLXIPL and malignant colon neoplasm.
