n-3 PUFA in fish and isoflavones in legumes have been shown to reduce lipid accumulation and liver enzyme levels, to improve insulin sensitivity and to have anti-inflammatory effects and thus are associated with the prevention of the development of hepatic steatosis, NAFLD, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and fibrosis(66–68). This evidence concerns the gene INS and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
