They identified a pathogenic mechanism in ALS microglia, in which miR-365 and miR-125b negatively regulated interleukin-6 (IL-6) and STAT3 pathway, respectively, causing an increase in tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) expression and switching microglia toward a detrimental phenotype [96,157].
