CD14+CD16− monocytes isolated from ALS patients with SOD1 mutated familial form revealed a unique miRNA signature with miR-27a, miR-30b, miR-142-5p, miR-155, miR-223 and miR-532-3p highly overexpressed in an ALS patient comparing to healthy controls and patients with multiple sclerosis [109]. The gene discussed is CD14; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
