These findings led to the development of different drugs like AMG 900, an ATP-competitive small molecule, which inhibits autophosphorylation of AURKA, AURKB, AURKC, and specifically inhibits phosphorylation of Ser10 histone H3, bringing to division blockade and apoptosis, even in antimitotic-drug-resistant tumour cells.
