CD8A and neoplasm: Since tumor stromal cells induce massive alterations in local metabolome and secretome profiles and are thought to ensnare CD8+ T cells and other APCs (Joyce and Fearon, 2015; Hammerich et al., 2019) in the tumor microenvironment, their contribution to immune suppression, evasion, and unresponsiveness to immune-checkpoint blockers (Brahmer et al., 2012) should be investigated more in depth.
