CD8A and cancer: In mice, cDCs have been classified into two major subsets, cDC1, which express CD103 (CD8α) and specialize in cross-presentation to CD8+ T cells critical for immunity against intracellular pathogens, viruses, and cancer; and cDC2, which express CD11b and promote CD4+ T cell differentiation into subsets specializing in anti-viral, -fungal, or -helminth immunity (8).
