In addition to thrombocytopenia, various derangements in haemostatic parameters have been described in association with dengue, including endothelial activation with release of von Willebrand-factor [22], moderate coagulation activation with formation of thrombin-antithrombin complexes, D-dimers and decreased fibrinogen levels [23], reduced thrombin formation and excessive fibrinolysis [24], possibly with plasminogen activation. This evidence concerns the gene PLG and dengue disease.
