We did not specifically assess the role of p53 in sensitivity to AgNPs as almost all TNBC cell lines (including the 4 used in our study) are p53 mutants, and up to 80% of TNBC patients have mutant p53.70 However, a previous report has shown that AgNPs are able to induce p53‐independent cancer cell apoptosis in both p53 wild type and p53‐mutant osteosarcoma cells.71 The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is osteosarcoma.
