An even distribution of single and multiple HPV infections, and cervical disease development, regardless of high CD4 count, was an observation similar to 2 previous reports.[6,46] However, Denny et al[47] found that having a CD4 count of more than 500/mm3 was protective against the development of cervical disease for 36 months, once the analysis was adjusted for age, sexual activity and HIV viral load. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is cervicitis.
