Correa-Costa et al. (2011) reported the upregulation of NLRP3 mRNA in the biopsies of human kidneys from a large number of patients with different kinds of kidney diseases, such as IgA nephropathy, hypertensive nephrosclerosis, minimal change disease, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and acute tubular necrosis. Here, NLRP3 is linked to kidney disorder.
