In contrast, the livers from Trpm2−/− mice that were depleted of neutrophils showed a significantly reduced number of abscesses compared to the Trpm2−/− mice counterpart without neutrophils depletion (Figure 4D and Supplementary Figure 2B), suggesting that Trpm2−/− neutrophils may facilitate bacterial dissemination and subsequent tissue damage in these animals.
