STAT3 and fatty liver disease: This discrepancy may be explained as follows: first, hepatic STAT3 signaling was impaired in ethanol-induced steatosis, and impaired STAT3 signaling could prompt the development of hepatic steatosis (Gao, 2004); second, while our model of AH is induced by chronic-binge ethanol feeding, the model of ALD in Horiguchi et al. is induced by chronic ethanol feeding, and these two models of alcohol-induced liver injury have different liver damage profiles (Bertola et al., 2013).
