Significantly increased proliferation of epiplexus KC was found 1 (n = 63.3 ± 6.8/mm2; p < 0.05), 3 (n = 79.3 ± 12.3/mm2; p < 0.01) and 7 days (n = 86.1 ± 13.8/mm2; p < 0.05) following SAH, compared to the number of Ki-67 positive cells in the CP of naïve animals (n = 37.6 ± 9.4/mm2). This evidence concerns the gene MKI67 and keratoconus.
