Together, given that overnutrition is associated to immune training by regulating the NF-κB activation linked to the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway (Christ et al., 2018), we propose that maternal nutritional programing by exposure to hypercaloric diets during pregnancy might set microglia immune training by activation of the IKKβ/NF-kB pathway, amplifying its effects on the SOCS3, the PTP1B, and the TCPTP (Figure 2C).
