VEGFA and retinal vein occlusion: The ARPE-19 cell line was selected because dexamethasone has been used to treat inflammation in a variety of ocular diseases including diabetic macular oedema, retinal vein occlusion [33,34], and in combination with anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (anti-VEGF) agents for the therapy of age related macular degeneration (AMD) [35].
