Many studies demonstrate that the content of m6A is negatively associated with the risk of T2D, as a significant reduction of m6A contents can been found in T2D patients [32], while, the increased mRNA expression of demethylase FTO is responsible for the reduction of m6A content, which may induce the complications of T2D, including obesity, cardiovascular diseases [68]. Here, FTO is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
