This T1D therapy scenario is at variance from other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, intestinal bowel diseases, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, in which the more modest therapy goal, namely a symptom free remission, can be achieved in many cases by a monotherapy, for example with anti-TNF or anti-IL-17A [12, 40–42].
