Hepatic steatosis, as characterized by the number of lipid droplets and total lipid area (Figure 5, B–D), and fibrosis, as characterized by an increase in the percentage area positive for Picrosirius red and αSMA (Figure 5, B, E, and F, and Supplemental Figure 3A) or fibrogenic gene expression (Supplemental Figure 3C), were comparable between C57BL/6 and fpr1–/– mice in the MCD diet model. The gene discussed is FPR1; the disease is fatty liver disease.
