S7 Video demonstrated the behavior of monocytes in CD11a-/- mice; most monocytes underwent fast rolling with very few cells adhering to the vessel, suggesting a role for CD11a in monocyte adhesion. Flow cytometry confirmed that there was significantly fewer Ly6Clow monocytes recruited to the brain in ICAM1-/- and CD11a-/- mice 48 h post infection compared to wild-type mice (Fig 4D).
