Analysis of quantitative protein levels in the genotype-stratified patient subgroups showed (i) the cancer parts had higher GALNT14 protein levels than those of the noncancer parts (p = 0.008 and < 0.001 for “TT” and “non-TT” genotypes, respectively), and (ii) a significantly higher cancer to noncancer (C/non-C) ratio of GALNT14 expression was noted in the “TT” genotype compared with the “non- TT” genotype (p = 0.001).
