GLS and infection: In this study, we identified most of the ERQC key components were N-glycosylated target proteins in M. oryzae. We subsequently found that these ERQC components are required for host penetration and invasive hyphal growth in M. oryzae. More importantly, we proved that the N-site of Gls1 can regulate its function by affecting its subcellular localization in ER and protein stability, revealing roles of N-glycosylation in protein quality control and the infection process.
