We appreciate that for lncRNA genes this is not always possible, and we do permit reference to expression, e.g. BMNCR for “bone marrow associated non‐coding RNA” (Li et al, 2018a), and, in some cases, disease where the association of the lncRNA with the disease is based on more than a change in expression, e.g. PRINS for “psoriasis associated non‐protein coding RNA induced by stress” (Sonkoly et al, 2005), NBAT1 for “neuroblastoma associated transcript 1” (Pandey et al, 2014). The gene discussed is NBAT1; the disease is psoriasis.
