In agreement with our previous study reporting that men may have an increase risk in nocturnal hypoglycemia [4] and an increased incidence of hypoglycemia during intensive insulin therapy [5], our data showed that male patients receiving mid-premixed insulin analogue achieved a potential improvement in postprandial glucose concentration compared to those of female patients, while female patients did not have any difference in postprandial glucose levels with mid- or low-premixed insulin analogue. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Hypoglycemia.
