Intravitreal injections of anti-VEGF drugs [e.g. ranibizumab (Lucentis®, Genentech/Novartis), bevacizumab (Avastin®, Genentech/Roche), aflibercept (Eylea®, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals/Bayer)] are used in the clinic, showing benefits including visual acuity improvement and CNV regression in acute wet AMD and other CNV (e.g. myopic CNV) pathologies (Gao et al., 2018; Schmid et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and wet macular degeneration.
