Bohle et al. demonstrated that sublingual immunotherapy with BP did not efficiently alter the immune response to pollen-related food allergens with either rMal d 1-specific IgE and sIgG4 levels or rMal d 1-induced T-cell proliferation change, which may explain why pollen-associated food allergy is frequently not ameliorated by pollen immunotherapy even if respiratory symptoms significantly improve [21]. The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is food allergy.
