It was observed in vitro and in vivo that PALs can induce a selective anticancer effect [18,19,20] likely related to the different basal ROS concentration in cancer and non-cancer cells, as the higher metabolic status typical of cancer cells would render them unable to tolerate any increase in oxidative stress, such as the one caused by RONS in PALs [21,22].
