To corroborate this hypothesis, we used the STRING database [55,56] to investigate ‘possible’ interactions among the major proteins involved in autophagy: LC3B-I (MAP1LC3A), LC3B-II (MAP1LC3B), and SQSTM-1 (p62), the autophagy-related (ATG) family proteins involved in autophagosome formation, and the driver mutated genes in RPMI-8226 and JJN3 myeloma cell lines, Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) and MAF1, respectively. The gene discussed is MAF1; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
