Moscatilin was shown to induce apoptosis in human colorectal cancer cells through tubulin depolymerization and DNA damage and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation [15], apoptosis of human pancreatic cancer cells via reactive oxygen species and the JNK/stress-activated protein kinases (SAPK) pathway [16], and apoptosis and mitotic catastrophe in human esophageal cancer cells by early promotion of the M phase cell cycle blockade and the regulation of mitotic catastrophe-associated proteins [17].
