Interestingly, and somewhat paradoxically given our serum ELISA and tumor tissue PCR results, we observed that higher expression of IL-6 (HR 0.46, 95% CI 0.26–0.82, P = 0.007) and the IL-6 receptor/CD126 (HR 0.46, 95% CI 0.27–0.79, P = 0.004) were both associated with greater OS in human sarcomas (Fig 6G and 6H). The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is sarcoma.
