PPARG and periodontal disorder: Viniegra et al. (38) have shown that the expression of CD206, a marker of alternatively activated macrophages, increased during the healing phase of periodontal disease and that the induction of resolving macrophages through a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPAR-γ) agonist reduced the alveolar bone loss and increased CD206 expression in periodontal tissues.
