S. mansoni infection produced maintenance of TET1 and DNMT1 expression levels and upregulation of DNMT3A and B expression levels in wild-type mice, resulting in levels similar to those of TET2 and 3; schistosomiasis induced high levels of methylation in infected wild-type mice compared with control wild-type mice as shown in S2B Fig. The gene discussed is TET1; the disease is schistosomiasis.
