Previously, stathmin was found to control the regulation of hypoxia inducible factor (HIF)-1α through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in ovarian cancer cells53, and stathmin knockdown supressed expression of HIF-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and impeded phosphorylation of ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (S6K) and Akt. This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and ovarian cancer.
