CD274 and cancer: Cancer therapeutics targeting the immune system disrupted the landscape of oncology in recent years.1, 2, 3, 4 To evade the immune system, cancer cells develop a series of immunosuppressive mechanisms, including up and downregulating functional pathways favoring tumor tolerance and T‐cell anergy.5 The Programmed Death (PD)‐1/PD Ligand‐1 (PD‐L1) pathway is one of such critical component of tumor‐mediated immunosuppression.6 In this setting, the administration of antibodies targeting PD‐1 and PD‐L1 demonstrated substantial clinical benefit in patients with advanced or metastatic cancer.1, 4
