Given the important role of NR2A and SFK in CSD propagation and in Panx1 activation leading to neuro-inflammatory responses, we propose that NR2A/SFK/Panx1 signaling may play an important role in migraine aura pathogenesis (Figure 5) and drugs that target this pathway might constitute an effective strategy for migraine prophylaxis.
