As shown in Figure 1, IL-1β stimulation resulted in a marked increase of the proinflammatory genes IL-1β, COX-2, CCL2, and IL-8 in both GBM cells (Figure 1A: IL-1β: +13.73-fold ± 3.62, COX-2: +17.2-fold ± 5.65, CCL2: +2.90-fold ± 1.65, IL-8: +11.1-fold ± 3.64, n = 6, p < 0.041) and PBMCs (Figure 1B: IL-1β: +15.1-fold ± 1.31, COX-2: +2.57-fold ± 0.27, CCL2: +8.77-fold ± 1.63, IL-8: +8.22-fold ± 1.22, n = 5, p < 0.008). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is glioblastoma.
