The diet-induced animal model of NAFLD (DIAMOND) is one such model; it is an isogenic cross of a C57Bl6/J and s129svlm6 mouse which reproducibly develops obesity, adipose tissue inflammation, hypoadiponectinemia, increased IL-6 and TNF-α, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and NAFL which progresses to NASH with histology that resembles human NASH and progresses to bridging fibrosis and early nodule formation29. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
