In recent years, several urinary proteins including neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), tissue inhibitor of metalloprotease-2 (TIMP-2), insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7), and others have been proposed as useful biomarkers for early diagnosis, differentiation, and/or prediction of patient outcome in adult and pediatric AKI [7,8,9,10]. This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP7 and acute kidney injury.
