CXCL12 and its receptor (CXCR4) have been implicated as critical mediators of the stromal-leukaemic cell interaction, affecting AML cell survival [73], migration [74], adhesion [9, 75] and disease progression by acting as a survival factor for both normal and leukaemic haematopoietic cells.
