Regarding hematological cancers, the detection of PODXL in normal human hematopoietic cells [57], as well as of Wilms ́ tumor antigen 1 (WT1), a transcriptional activator of PODXL, in blast cells of the majority of acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients [58], prompted the determination of PODXL in leukemia [28,29]. This evidence concerns the gene PODXL and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
