UMOD and acute kidney injury: Many studies revealed that THP appeared to have anti‐inflammatory protective properties in kidney injury.2, 7, 37 Several small studies found that the excretion of THP was decreased during clinical AKI in the setting of cardiac surgery,38 intensive care unit 39and kidney transplant.40 And a study indicated that a higher uromodulin level in patients receiving a liver transplant associated with a lower risk of developing AKI.41 However, more studies are needed to determine whether a decreased urinary THP would be a good marker for AKI.
